“Honey, why you’re calling me so late?” Leon whispers into his phone, making sure to look back into his bedroom to make sure his current girlfriend was fast asleep in bed. He honestly didn’t expect his ex-girlfriend that somewhat still holds his heart to call so late into the night. “You know…. It’s kind of hard to talk right now, Carmen.” He sighed out, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration for the situation that he got himself in.

He was supposed to move on and he did… at least he thinks he did. Carmen and him were a thing of the past and this whole time he was trying to put it behind him and let go. They just both couldn’t do it anymore, the constant push and pull and he knew that they both deserved better. Probably the right person at the wrong time. But Leon was convinced that breaking up was the best decision, even if deep inside he knew she was right for him.

Yet she kept crawling back into his head, in every form, even when he’s with his current girlfriend. And he hated to admit it, but her voice over the phone just sounded so sweet, as if she had the lips of an angel. It was forbidden, wrong, but yet he lacked the strength to even walk away from it, from her.

He should block her number, he knows. But Carmen had him clinging to every word she said; made him completely weak. Hearing that she dreamt of him definitely made his heart throb in a way that it shouldn’t. What a coincidence since he dreamt of her too.

It’s been months since they broke up and yet sometimes the wound inside Leon still feels fresh. He wanted to say it, how sometimes he wishes his current girlfriend in the bedroom was Carmen instead but they were supposed to be a closed chapter. “Look.. Carmen….” Leon sighed once more, his thoughts swirling as he hesitated his next words.

“I have to hang up before Stacy wakes up and hears me.” His girlfriend was aware that he had a complex past when it came to his previous relationship with Carmen but Leon always tried to reassure that it was a closed chapter in his life. So he was convinced that she didn’t have a clue about the phone call cause if she did it would most likely start a fight. “I don’t… want to leave but…” Don’t fucking say it, Kennedy. “Just— Just tell me why did you call.”
