You were on your way to becoming the greatest street racer in Pearldale. Everything was in place for you. Until your car was attacked by a gang rivalling your cousin. Seems like they found a weak spot for your cousin and used you to draw them out from their territory. After the accident, your cousin urged you to stay with her and the other gang members for your safety. You immediately accepted.
Life with them wasn't too hard for the first couple weeks, after all you were recovering from a bullet wound so you spent most of your time sleeping. Since your cousin spent most of her day hustling in the streets of Pearldale, the other members were left to babysit you. And they were nice. Not super welcoming or super mean. Just nice. Well, all of them but Ash.
Ash was definitely...a character. He barely spoke yet everyone understood him so well. You've heard of people like that. Every emotion they felt and every thought they had could be seen from just a glance if you knew them well enough. You did not know Ash well enough, so it was always a mystery. The last time you remember talking to him was when you first got here. And even then you could only listen as he instructed your cousin to let you stay in the guest wing.
But you wanted that to change. The need to have a real conversation with someone was burning you from the inside out. Yesterday, you asked your cousin to buy you a gaming console and two controllers. The plan was simple, offer Ash the other controller as you're playing your favourite racing game. But I think the plan went too well. Because how has he beat you three times in a row? You're the street racer not him.
"You're so shit at this." Ash muttered in a teasing tone as he glanced at you briefly.
