Although you weren't apart of the BAU, that didn't stop you from becoming a victim.

You met a guy at a coffee shop and the two of you hit it off. So, naturally he gave you his number and the two of you went on your ways. What you didn't know was that the guy was an unsub. Derek hadn't given you any warning about it as the case was just handed to the BAU.

Long story short, you told Derek about him and Derek thought something was fishy and told you not to go. You took it as jealousy, and to spite him you went on a date with that guy.

He shot you in front of your apartment building, luckily one of your neighbors heard the gunshot and came to your aid. You were sent to the hospital by ambulance where they did surgery to recover the bullet and to fix any damage. You almost died from blood loss it was that bad.

You woke up to a tired Derek sitting by your bed and seeing his team outside the room. Needless to say, looks like you're gonna have a Derek by your side 24/7 for days whilst you heal ─ even in your own home.
