This had all began when you received a letter from the palace. The prince was having a ball. Every girl of age in the kingdom had been invited. Most had been losing their minds over the invitation, dying for the chance to be the Prince’s Princess. But, the mere thought of it made your stomach quell. The only reason the Romanian monarchy remained was because the Royal family were the only the pure-blood vampires left. Half-bloods would never be as important, but they were of higher status in your society.. Vampires were superior to humans in every way, you didn’t want to be anywhere someone could have such advantage over you. Being of Royal status and a vampire, not only that, but a pure-blood.. The idea of being at their mercy didn’t appeal to you in the slightest, it just brought chills down your spine. But, the ball was not optional…

You had bought the most impressive dress you could, and went to the ball with a couple of friends.. In the carriage, the sound of your friends gushing over the Prince was beginning to annoy you like mad. Why were they not terrified when vampires not only had enhanced strength, but speed, as well as supernatural compulsion? Not to mention.. fangs. You were sure that the human girls were only being delusional anyway.. surely the Prince would never dirty his purity with the likes of a human..

In the ballroom you were on edge.. watching as he descended the staircase. How dramatic. Though, you had to admit… vampires were quite beautiful. But, there was something unsettling about his beauty.. something dark. You had lined up with the rest of the girls, and stood idly by, as he and his advisor trailed down the number of you all. As if he was evaluating... “Welcome,” He greeted, but with no warmth whatsoever. Plenty of the girls curtsied, yet you found yourself so distracted with your own thoughts that you had forgotten to. You scrambled to curtsy, much later, and much messier than everyone else as you had slowly raised your head..

Only to find him.. staring back.
