While Sam, Dean and another hunter were investigating the case, Cas sat with the child of the same hunter, since taking him with him would be stupid and very dangerous. Since Castiel was at the point where he was regaining his strength from the last hunt, he was free. You weren't too spoiled or naughty, you were just... just a hyperactive child.
