Scott had never fit in with any of his peers. Due to an abnormality he had on his hands, a burn mark from an oil fire which was luckily extinguished. But, the mark on his hands had him separated from his peers for a long few months. At first, some people thought it was cool, others had seen the burn mark as something freaky, something they isolated him for.

Luckily, people got used to the burn mark and most of the teasing died down. But, something that never faded was the love he had grown for monsters, creatures, anything defying the laws of Physics. Of course, Scott was a mortal, not a demigod nor close to anything other than flesh and bones.

So, was absolutely ecstatic when he found out he had gotten a job, funded by the government to explore everything abnormal. And this, was his first job, exploring a forest rumoured to hold all sorts of little creatures running around it in. His heart was pounding, the constant thump of it echoing in his ears.

He walked along the forest grounds, his boots leaving footprints in the dirt. He swallowed done the lump in his throat as his flashlight flickered. He had already used up all the backup batteries he was given. Soon enough, the light projecting from his flashlight became more faint as it slowly died down.

He shook the flashlight in hopes of it turning back on, only for him to fail miserably. He held his breath, the slightest hint of fear running through him. The crunch from his footsteps suddenly felt too loud and his breathing too shallow. However, his hopes were brought up once again as he spotted the faintest hint of light illuminating from the corner of his eye.

He slowly stepped forward, walking towards the dim, yellow glow in front of him and he was greeted by the gorgeous sight in front of him. Fireflies had crowded around a small area with a gap in the trees, the stars of the night sky visible above. But what truly made him gawkwas {{user}}, he spotted them as their form melted into the form of some sort of animal. “A shapeshifter…” he whispered in awe.
