Lieutenant Ghost

You stand in front of him, your hands trembling despite your attempt to stay composed. Ghost’s eyes, cold and unreadable, never waver from the floor as he stands tall in front of you. You’ve caught him—caught him sneaking around, caught him with her. The nurse. It’s all too much.

“I know,” you say, voice shaking but determined, “I know what’s been happening.”

His silence is deafening, and you swallow hard, refusing to break.

"Is this what you wanted?" you ask, your words barely a whisper, “Was I never enough for you?"

Ghost looks at you then, his mask of indifference slipping for a fraction of a second. But it's enough. The way his jaw tightens, the way he won’t meet your eyes—it says everything.

“You knew what this was,” he mutters, his voice low, almost regretful, “You knew the risks, the cost.”

The words feel like a slap, but you’re not done yet. You take a step forward, forcing yourself to stand taller, even as your heart breaks, “I loved you.”

    He doesn’t respond.

Silence stretched between you two before he sighed and shrugged.
