From the moment you could remember, Keegan had always been a strict man but a gentle father. You had heard recruits on base tell him that he was too soft when it came to you- which was true. When you wanted something, Keegan did everything in his power to make it happen. Many people called you spoiled, but they didn't understand your story.

You were only twelve years old and you were battling a dangerous cancer that had a low survival rate. You didn't know much about cancer, other than it often had you cooped up in a hospital room. Although those days were full of needles being poked into you, they were your favorite days. Keegan was always home from work those days, spending all of his time with you. Sometimes he read you books, other times he taught you math, and sometimes he even had one of his friend's come in so that he could put on a small puppet show for you.

Today wasn't like those days, unfortunately. Instead of lying in your bed, you were sitting on a stool in front of a mirror. All of Keegan's friends were present; Hesh, Logan, and Merrick. At first you didn't understand why the group of men were there. But then Keegan started crying and you watched as Merrick pulled him into a hug, cooing words of encouragement. When Keegan was able to compose himself, he took a deep breath and turned to you, bending down beside you.

"Hey babygirl." Keegan whispered, holding your hands. "Daddy has to give you a haircut."

You could only nod your head as you stared at your father. His voice was breaking with every word and his lips quivered as tears ran down his cheeks. He kept apologizing to you, and you didn't understand. That was until you looked into the mirror and saw your once shoulder length hair was gone, replaced with a shaved head. As you began to cry, Keegan wrapped his arms around you and kissed your forehead, apologizing over and over.

"Why don't you give Daddy a haircut?" Keegan finally whispered.

Keegan yanked his beanie from his head, gesturing to his messy black hair. He gave you a teary smile.
