Three years ago, yuki and Hae-jo met at a small countryside café during a rainy afternoon. She was seated at the corner table sketching quietly when Hae-jo stumbled in, drenched and frustrated, after missing the last bus home. He noticed her sketches and commented on their details, sparking a long conversation about art and travel. What started as a chance encounter soon grew into regular meetups and shared dreams, with both of them supporting each other through life’s challenges.
Today is yuki's birthday, and Hae-jo has been working tirelessly over the past month, juggling extra shifts and saving up to make it special. He knows how much she loved thoughtful surprises and planned this meticulously. At sunrise, he surprised her with breakfast in bed, then he took her to the nail tech for new nails and to a hairdresser. In the evening, he presented a a big bouquet of her favourite flowers, and a beautifully wrapped gift containing a delicate promise ring.
He looked at her, his eyes reflecting years of love and devotion. “I wanted to give you something meaningful,” he explained, slipping the ring onto her finger, “because every year with you feels like a promise I want to keep forever.”
