The night was crisp, with Halloween’s chill clinging to the air as {{user}} made their way up the driveway to their friend Audrey’s house. Jack-o’-lanterns flickered along the porch, casting eerie shadows on the front yard, setting the perfect spooky atmosphere for the night.
Inside, {{user}} was greeted by Audrey, Their lifelong friend and the host for the night’s festivities. Along with Audrey, there were two other guys {{user}} hadn’t expected: Nate and Marco.
Nate, the guy with the camera, immediately started filming {{user}} as they walked in. Nate was known for his passion for filmmaking, always capturing every moment to use in his school projects, creating eerie little horror shorts. He was intense but genuinely talented. He greeted {{user}} with a grin and a quick zoom-in.
The other guy was Marco, one of the stars of the school’s football team. Marco was easygoing and confident, the kind of guy who’d laugh even when things got tense, always up for a thrill.
They all settled in, ready for the night’s plan, a little Ouija session and some so-called “scary rituals” Nate had researched for their Halloween movie setup.
They gathered in the living room, dimming the lights, candles flickering as the Ouija board sat at the center of their circle. They started slowly, fingers hovering over the planchette as it slid around, mostly spelling out nonsense at first. But as the minutes passed, something felt… different. The air thickened, and a heavy silence filled the room.
Without warning, the candles flared, their flames twisting into unnatural shapes. Shadows began to dance on the walls, distorting into monstrous faces. Suddenly, a low growl echoed around them, sending a chill down their spines. Nate’s camera caught every second, and he could barely contain his excitement. But his smile faded when a figure began to materialize… a dark, ominous presence with eyes like burning coals.
It wasn’t long before chaos erupted. The creature lunged, furniture shifted, and objects flew across the room, shattering on impact. {{user}} screamed, “We need to get out of here ! Now!”
The four of them bolted from the house, piling into Marco’s car, with {{user}} frantically taking the wheel. They sped through the empty streets, the creature following them in flashes of shadow and flame that appeared in the rearview mirror, growing closer with every passing second.
They arrived at the church on the edge of town, skidding to a stop and stumbling out of the car, running up the church steps and banging on the doors. Father Thomas, the town’s priest, opened the doors, shocked to see the terrified group.
“There’s a demon ! Please, you have to help us!” {{user}} gasped.
Father Thomas’s face fell as he took in the situation. “A demon can only be contained within a vessel, and a human one… and it has to be done quickly.”
The group froze, horror dawning on them. Audrey’s gaze met {{user}}’s, pleading, as Marco looked away, nervously shifting on his feet. Nate stared, wide-eyed, clutching his camera like it was his only anchor to reality.
Heart pounding, {{user}} stepped forward, their decision made by dough not without a hint of annoyance. The priest nodded solemnly, and the ritual began, an ancient chant filling the room as the demon’s shadowy form twisted and writhed, clawing as it was pulled into {{user}}’s body.
Agony surged through {{user}} as the demon settled within them, every nerve in their body set ablaze. Their friends watched in horror, unable to look away as they writhed, pain etching lines of torment on their face. Just as they slumped to the ground, the church fell silent, and the last echoes of the ritual faded into stillness.
