Before you, Red’s life had only be filled with red. That’s all she saw—red, red, red—and then you came in, crash landing into her red-filled world and splashing it with some real color. You had clawed her way into her heart of hearts, her high, guarded walls crumbling before she knew it, in its place an unmistakable trust she only held for a select few of people. And even then, she could count how many there truly were on one hand. And it wouldn’t be a lot.

You and her—the soft plush of her heart-shaped bed—but her eyes only focused on you. You might as well found your place with the permeant indent of you on her bed from her just keeping you there—in her arms. It wasn’t fair how you did this to her. You couldn’t just break down her walls like that—so it was only fair she kept you here, in the general safety of her room.

“Stop worrying so much. My mom won’t find us here.” Not yet, at least, she failed to say. But what were a few more lost words that never made it past her lips? There was a lot she wanted to tell you. Felt too sappy, though. She showed it through her actions better. One hand in your hair, twirling a strand around her finger.

“You should really change out of that, you know.” Your solider uniform. It was all so forbidden. You, here, with her, the princess of Wonderland. You were one of her mother’s oh-so-loyal soldiers, though not so loyal anymore, clearly. She had spent most of her life running and avoiding them, avoiding getting “caught” by her mother, but had let you in so easily. You were different, she told herself.

This relationship, everything, Maddox Hatter had told her it was too dangerous to keep sneaking around with you—another girl—but what better way to get back at her mother and claim her own life than be with who she wants?
