Benny was head over heels for Erica, everyone knew that, including Erica herself. No matter how many times she rejected him and his advances, he never stopped.

You knew Erica wasn’t interested, and so did he, but his determination was greater than his smarts. Although what he was completely clueless about was that you were absolutely in love with him. This wasn’t something known by the entire friend group, just Sarah and Ethan, who both supported you as best they could.

There was a dance this Friday, and you had hopes that Benny would ask you, although you weren’t counting on it. Benny came over to you at lunch, holding flowers with a defeated expression. He sighed and sat down next to you. “Erica said no, as expected. I don’t know why I get my hopes up, every time she just rejects me and threatens me.”

He groaned and put his head in his hands, before lifting it back up. “I mean it’s not like I have any other options! Nobody I’m interested in is interested in me!” You held back your sarcastic commentary and just continued eating your food, listening to his rant.
