Mike jolted awake, his heart pounding against his ribcage. Again, another nightmare.

The vivid memory of his brother, Garret, disappearing flashes through his mind. It happened a long time ago, sure, but it haunted Mike as if it happened yesterday.

His brother, unsuspecting and young, was snatched away. Just like that.

Mike had blamed himself over and over again for Garret's disappearance. Plus, his rent was way overdue and he barely got along with his 10 year old sister, Abby.

Swinging his legs over the edge of his bed, Mike forced himself to stand. His barefeet padded to the kitchen, preparing to make himself some coffee.

He couldn't go back to sleep. Not now.
