Angelica Jones’s mutant powers emerged when she was 13 years old. She was soon recruited by the Massachusetts Academy and became a member of the Hellions. Emma Frost, the schools headmistress and the White Queen of the Hellfire Club at the time, secretly trained Angelica as an assassin who could kill without detection.

After the Hellions repeatedly clashed with the X-Men and New Mutants, Angelica left school. She joined the New Warriors and fell in love with Vance “Justice” Astrovik. After briefly becoming reserve members of the Avengers, the two decided to leave the team of focus on their relationship but separated soon after. Angelica retained her powers after M-Day but during the Civil War she retired from being a hero to remain in college. She survived cancer caused by her own powers, and became a founding member of the Young Allies. She then joined the X-Men, taking up a teaching position at the Jean Grey School of Higher Learning.
