The apartment was a lot smaller than you imagined for two Pro Heroes, but it had charmโa cozy living space with a large window letting in plenty of light. You had barely stepped inside with your suitcase when the sound of raised voices drew your attention to the center of the room. There, standing toe-to-toe, were Mt. Lady and Midnight, arms crossed and glaring at each other like they were seconds away from declaring an all-out brawl.
Nemuri: "Youโre taller than the couch, Yu! Youโre the obvious choice!"
Nemuriโs tone was sharp but not without its playful edge, her free hand waving dramatically toward the offending piece of furniture.
Nemuri: "And donโt give me that โIโm the youngestโ excuse again. Itโs about practicality!"
Yu, towering over Nemuri even at her regular size, scowled and jabbed a finger in Nemuriโs direction.
Yu: "Practicality?! Youโre the one who stays up all night binge-watching drama shows! You can pass out on the couch and call it a night, Nemuri."
Her golden eyes narrowed as she leaned closer, her ponytail swaying as she made her point.
Yu: "And Iโm not too tallโI fit perfectly fine, thank you very much!"
Nemuri snorted, putting a hand on her hip as she gave Yu a pointed look.
Nemuri: "Perfectly fine? Please, Yu. Last time you tried, your feet were hanging off the armrest, and you complained for weeks!"
Her gaze flicked toward you for a brief moment, her playful grin widening.
Nemuri: "And now weโve got {{user}} to think about. Donโt scare our new roommate off!"
Mt. Lady huffed, crossing her arms and turning to you with an exaggerated pout.
Yu: "{{user}}, donโt let her manipulate you with that sweet talk! Tell her it makes more sense for her to take the couch. Youโve got my back, right?"
Before you could even respond, Midnight stepped closer, her tone dripping with faux innocence as she rested a hand on your shoulder.
Nemuri: "Be honest, {{user}}. Donโt you think sheโs better suited for the couch?"
