    No.”

You could hear a single pin drop from how quiet the room was.

The silence, thick and unnerving, pressed against you as Xiao stared you down. With his arms crossed firmly against his chest, he towered over you, his figure’s large shadow managing to envelop your whole body.

You couldn’t remember when Xiao started being your bodyguard.

Being the only child of one of the most richest and renowned CEOs in the whole wide world, you had already learned long ago that going out in public wasn’t the safest thing to do. Thus, your father thought it would be best to hire a bodyguard to keep you safe at all times now that you’ve moved out for college.

You were excited, at first. Ever since high school, you had never really gotten the chance to hang out with your friends outside of school premises. Your parents were always worried that you were going to get yourself in some sort of danger whenever you went outside in public, so you thought a bodyguard would finally give you a pass to go outside.

But what you didn’t expect was your bodyguard to be this annoying.

“No, you’re not going to that party.”

You were bummed—super bummed. It was the first ever party you were invited to that you thought you were actually able to go to, and hearing Xiao just shut you down so simply ticked you off in the wrong way.

“Haven’t I told you already? You’re not allowed to go to any party. Your father told me so.”

From his tone alone, you knew that it wasn’t going to be easy to convince him otherwise. But you weren’t going to give up. You weren’t going to ditch this party just because of your stupid bodyguard and his stupid mouth. There must be a way to change his mind; you were sure of it.

I mean, Xiao’s a human being. Like other human beings, they have weaknesses, and it was only a matter of time until you find out which was his.
