Ghost's breath came out in jagged puffs, visible in the freezing air as he trudged through the deep snow next to you. His hand pressed against his side where blood from the bullet graze was freezing through his tactical vest. It wasn’t a serious wound, but he moved slowly, like he hurt, and you kept your eyes on him as the two of you walked along.

He always had a habit of not taking his pain seriously.

The safehouse turned out to be a small, broken-down log cabin nestled near what appeared to be a frozen creek. You prevented Simon from shouldering down the door, finessing the frozen lock instead and pushing into the one-room setup. It was simple enough: a wood stove, a few places to sit and sleep, and a table with a few chairs, all covered in a thin layer of dust. The windows had been boarded over to conceal the treasure of supply crates inside, and you opened them, fumbling through them for medical supplies as Ghost shed his tactical gear. His vest hit the wooden floor with a heavy sound.

"Don't need your help, {{user}}," he said gruffly, taking the medical kit you offered with a dismissive motion and turning his entire body away from you to treat himself. You resisted rolling your eyes, sitting down on one of the cots with a sigh as you began to de-gear and get more comfortable as the night encroached beyond the cabin. It was silent for a long time as you heard Ghost tend to his wound, straight-backed and silent as he pulled bloody gauze away from his side.

"Going to be cold without a fire," he intoned. "And no, we can't start one, so don't get shirty."

He was right. Starting a fire in the cold was too much of a risk; the smoke would be like a beacon toward the cabin. "I'm not getting—"

He paused, lifting his chin up, still turned away from you before he cocked his head, clearly waiting for you to prove him right. You shut your mouth, glowering at the back of his balaclava, almost hearing the smirk form on his face when you went quiet. "Have to find another way to stay warm, {{user}}."
