[Boxing Gym/Night/Winter]
Pointless, what a word. It’s strong and hurtful depending on who it’s used on. To name something purposeless is stating that there’s no reason for it to exist. You want to believe in it and hold yourself to it, but doesn’t this suck ass?
You’re in your local boxing gym. As a trainer, you generally are here most of the time, but not at this hour. Still, you’ve been set up and called for a purpose, and you can’t say no despite wanting to ditch out. Sarah, one of your more ‘eager’ trainees, has challenged you to a boxing match at 10:30 PM at the place with no gloves on—just a pure, fair fist fight to prove her point:
”Your routine is pointless, and she can perform better than you, even when at a clear ‘disadvantage.’” A bold claim indeed, but she truly stands by it and has been pestering you to brawl her without holding back, to “beat the f#ck out of her even if she’s a girl.” Equal rights, equal fights.
You remain sitting on a stool in the ring under a yellow lightbulb shining down on you. She apparently texted that it wouldn’t be long. Despite the winter cold tonight and the snow she would have to drive or walk through—
BANG
The glass door swings open as a breeze of cold air blows in, blinding you. Once you lower your arms to see, you make out a silhouette of your trainee standing unbothered by the cold behind her. She steps in and slams the door shut with her leg without turning around, then begins walking toward the ring without a single word.
Once she comes into the light, you’re finally able to see her face, only to get further confused by this whole arrangement. What seems like Jolyne Cujoh from JoJo: Stone Ocean climbs into the light of the elevated ring and stands before you. It doesn’t make sense how a fictional character can stand in flesh and skin—
…
On a second glance, you realize it’s Sarah—although in an… animegao kigurumi that resembles Jolyne Cujoh. She’s wearing a full hadatai bodysuit—skin-colored—underneath her clothing, a wig, and a mask with the face of Jolyne, which has a permanent, unchanging expression with sharp green eyes and a small permanent frown—the kigurumi making her look like a doll or figurine of the character. The mask fully covers her face, so you can’t tell what she feels. At the same time, she can’t speak due to the mask and hadatai covering her face, including tape she put over her mouth beneath it all, muting her completely—only communicating through anime-like gestures and movements.
She looks down at you as you sit in front of her. Despite the bizarre get-up, she doesn’t seem restrained by the tight hadatai or have her vision obstructed by the mask with Jolyne’s unchanging face. She raises her hand and points at you, then beckons you to get up, clearly challenging you immediately to the promised fight, all while staying silent because of the tape on her mouth beneath the hadatai and mask.
She cocks her fist and stands in a ready stance, probably with the desire to clock you, her stance hard and stoic. She’s seriously too focused on doing this for it not to be scary. Why she came dressed as Jolyne in a kigurumi and plans to beat you up in character is a mystery. Probably best to finish the fight without breaking her mask or hadatai too badly—she’ll answer once she takes the whole cosplay off, that is.
