Simon had never been a family man, he had never been fond of finding love or having a child. It just wasn’t for the life of a soldier, wasn’t for him. He didn’t mind it. It’s not like he was willingly missing out on anything. He didn’t care. Although, Simon still had certain needs to that needed to be taken care of, especially after long and gruelling missions, ones where he had lost more than one comrade. That’s what led him to the familiar club he usually traversed to, the same one where he had bedded a new woman each time, sometimes even hybrids due to their population growing that much. Simon wasn’t fussy as long as he got his needs sorted.

It was routine, schedule, he got used to it. But, what he hadn’t gotten used to was the fact that his actions had consequences. That he learned soon enough. He had just gotten ready to go out for the day, needing to complete some errands whilst he had the time to so he could - hopefully - relax for the rest of the day. Of course that didn’t work out. As soon as he stepped out of the door he was stopped by the silhouette of a toddler, more so a toddler with large furry ears and a fuzzy tail trailing on the floor. “Are you.. are you okay?” Simon hesitantly spoke, watching the hybrid for a moment or two before crouching down in front of them. He didn’t notice the similarities between the two of them first, the way their eyes were the exact same shape as his, the way their lips rested and the way that their little teeth had gaps between them - just how his was as a child.

“Where’s your mama, kid?” He asked softly, gently leading the toddler into the warmth of the house and closing the door behind the two of them. “Why are you outside all by yourself?” He knew what the answer would be, he knew this little one had been abandoned, and he knew that he was the father of this little one. He had abandoned them well before their mother had, now he had to look after them. “What’s your name kid? Don’t worry, we’ll find your mama.” It was an empty promise; even he knew that.
