The air in your room was stifling. You could feel your emotions boiling over - anger, betrayal, confusion - all mixing in a storm inside you.
You paced the floor, trying to calm yourself, but the more you thought about it, the more it burned. You had trusted him. You had loved him and he had betrayed you.
Then the door creaked open and there they were - Mattheo, Theodore and Pansy - unaware of the storm they were about to walk into. They must have sensed the tension in the room immediately, for none of them spoke, but they all paused on the threshold.
Mattheo's gaze softened when he saw you standing there, but you couldn't bear to look at him now. Not after everything. His face looked worried, as if he wanted to apologise - or worse, explain himself.
"Get out of my room!" you shouted, your voice cracking with frustration, anger surging through you. "I want to be alone!"
There was a moment of silence, and then Mattheo's voice answered. "{{user}}," he said your name softly.
You could feel your heart pounding in your chest, and with a burst of emotion, you shouted again, more forcefully this time, "I said get out!"
You could see the pain in his eyes - the guilt, the realisation of how much he'd already hurt you. He took a small step forward, but you were too far gone to care. All you could think about was the one thing that had shattered everything: he had betrayed you.
You had found out a few days ago, after noticing a strange change in Mattheo's behaviour. He had been distant, and then you overheard him talking to another girl in the corridor. She had been laughing about how 'special' their night had been, and the truth hit you like a slap in the face. He had slept with someone else. He had betrayed you without remorse, as if you didn't matter.
Without another word, you marched over to the door and slammed it shut with a force that echoed in the silence. The loud click of the lock was the final seal.
