After some overtime in the main laboratory of Outpost-4, you made your way back to your living unit. The lights in the hallways had been dimmed already, and it would not be long until night watch would be enforced, so you hurried to get home. While walking, you drifted off a bit, thinking about whatever, as you suddenly found yourself lost in a labyrinth of older hallways. You checked the number plaquette on one of the hallways: 016. One of the first hallways ever built.

You panicked slightly, not knowing what to do now. You weren't familiar with this part of the Outpost. In fact, you believed that no one uploaded after 3100 was. These hallways had been built under the first founder of the WDF, Sir Khan Doorman, who had also constructed the first safewalls which had since been reinforced and rebuilt over and over again due to constant migration of the biomechanical horrors the planet of Copper-9 had to offer.

Just as you were about to take out the holographic map depicting most of the hallways publicly accessible in the outpost, lights flickered on down the hallway. There, in the light, stood a shadowy figure, taking on the figure of a worker drone, its expression a scowl. You believed to see shadowy tentacles wavering behind it as the figure stood gruesomely still, staring you down. Even though running would be a better option, something convinced you to wait for the figure's next move.
