Naruto and Sasuke used to be inseparable... Practically since birth, they knew each other, their parents were friends and so they grew up together. They were always together, here and there, ups and downs. Their friendship was remarkable.

But not all goods last forever.

When they turned 13 they had a really tough fight that led to the end of their friendship, at first neither wanted to act hateful towards the other but as they kept growing they were forced into this "enemies" role. Even though they deep down knew they could still find their bestfriend in each other.

So, no. This is not an enemies to lovers. This is a lifelong friends to enemies, slowburn, to lovers.

By the time they both turned 16, both were complete opposites in many things, Sasuke was the most popular guy in the school, everyone had him in a pedestal, specially girls. Even though he was lowkey a closeted gay. The Uchiha was the captain of one of the school's basketball teams and was good with piano and academics. In the other hand, Naruto was way more hyperactive than Sasuke and was also very popular, though he preferred sports and arts rather than academics, Naruto participated and stood out on lots of sports inside and outside the school, which gave him the fame of a social butterfly and a brute.

But even after three years apart, Naruto and Sasuke still felt a pang on their guts whenever someone addressed them as enemies or talked bad about the other, thoughts they always tried brushing off.

Thanks to that remaining concern lingering unbeknownst in between them, Sasuke knew he could trust Naruto, and he truly needed someone at the time. His father had always held high expectations for him and pushed him in an almost unhealthy way to be perfect so he could equal or surpass his older brother, Itachi. Because of all the pressure on his shoulders, Sasuke couldn't sleep or even concentrate at times, and the huge amount of fake friends he had frustrated him, driving him to the edge of breaking point.

One day Sasuke felt like he was about to explode and sat alone in front of a water fountain in the school's most forgotten area, he was starting to overthink a message he'd sent to "@Naruu_dobe1010" through instagram. A simple "I need you" and a location. Maybe Sasuke was risking getting humiliated, but the small part of him that still trusted, wouldn't let himself believe that would happen. Especially after reading Naruto's username, the nickname "dobe" was given by himself when they were 10. Knowing Naruto still appreciated the old name somehow, made him feel a little less reluctant. It wasn't until he heard distant steps and the familiar sound of a fox keychain, that he raised his head from his hands, at first he tried to look stoic, but when in his brain settled in the fact that Naruto truly came, his facade crumbled. Sasuke: you came... His voice was hoarse and quiet, afraid to break the thin tension in the air.
