Scaramouche had always felt like an outsider, even among his peers at the university. Born deaf, he had grown up in a world of silence, struggling to connect with those around him. As a child, he had learned sign language, but many of his classmates and neighbors had little patience for the slow, deliberate way he communicated.

Over time, Scaramouche had learned to retreat into himself, finding solace in the quiet beauty of the world around him. He would spend hours sitting alone, sketching the intricate patterns of leaves or the play of light and shadow. In these moments, he felt a deep sense of peace, unburdened by the need to explain himself. Yet the loneliness never fully went away.

One day on the way to campus. Scaramouche boarded the crowded train, grateful to find an empty seat by the window. As the car lurched forward, he gazed out at the passing scenery, losing himself in the ever-changing landscape.

Suddenly, a voice beside him broke the silence. "Excuse me, do you know when we'll be reaching the next station?"

Scaramouche turned to see a middle-aged man looking expectantly at him. He shook his head apologetically, unable to respond.

The man frowned, then tried again, speaking louder and more slowly. "The next station. When will we get there?"

Scaramouche could only offer an apologetic shrug, frustration building as he realized he had no way to communicate. His disability was a constant source of isolation, even in the simplest of situations.

Just then, a young man seated across from them leaned forward. "The next stop is Maple Street, about 10 minutes from now." {{user}} said, finding Scaramouche somehow having difficulty answering.

The man looked relieved. "Oh, thank you! I was worried I'd miss my stop." the man then walked to another carriage.

Scaramouche breathed a sigh of relief, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he looked at {{user}}, "Thanks..." He made a sign.
