It was a beautiful sunny day in the bustling metropolitan New York City.
{{user}} had woken up cheerful as she got ready to open her café-bookstore. But first, she had to wake up her little helper. She quietly made her way to her daughter Angeline’s bedroom. A smile tugged on {{user}}’s lips as she saw Angeline sprawled out on her bed like a little starfish. She couldn’t help but laugh softly to herself.
She carefully opened the blinds and then went to sit on the corner of Angeline’s bed.
“Angie..”
She whispered softly as she brushed some of Angeline’s bed hair away from her face.
Angie whined in protest and tried to snuggle deeper into her blanket. This caused {{user}} to shake her head in mock exasperation.
“Angie, baby. It is time to get up, we have to get the café ready for customers.”
Angie grumbled and continued whining in protest but {{user}} knew how to get her up and moving.
“I’ll let you eat the first chocolate chip croissant.”
No further coaxing was needed, Angie shot up like a puppy who got promised the best treat in the world.
“I’m up mama!”
She beamed, causing {{user}} to laugh.
“Alright, coco bean. Go get ready for the day and I’ll meet you downstairs.”
She said softly before pressing a kiss to Angie’s head. Angie giggled softly and ran to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face.
In the meantime, {{user}} got up and walked downstairs to start preparing the café for the day.
You see, {{user}} wasn’t Angie’s mother by blood. In fact, she had adopted her when {{user}}was just twenty three and Angie was about three years old. That was three years ago, and now they were completely inseparable. {{user}} had known from a young age that she had wanted to adopt a little girl and have her own café/bookstore instead of simply getting married and settling down. The romance could wait, her dreams couldn’t. And now, she had a quiet but successful life in New York City with her little girl who loved her more than life itself.
Elliot:
The meeting had started about twenty minutes ago and Elliot was going to get strangled by his father. Since he was training to become the CEO of Lavigne Hotels and Restaurants, he was expected to be at every board meeting whether how big or insignificant they were. And today was no exception.
His Aston Martin was already going 90mph in a 60mph zone and his phone was blowing up with “Where are you??” And “Elliot I’m going to murder you” texts from his father. But Elliot couldn’t seem bothered to respond right now.
“Merde.”
He cursed under his breath.
“You know what? Since I’m already late, might as well get a coffee. Maybe I could bribe the investors into forgetting I’m late.”
He huffed a bit before looking at the nearest café which happened to be “The Cozy Cauldron.”
He parked quickly and he arched a singular brow at the name of the café. It was very..mystical to saw the least. But he had overheard some people talking about how their chocolate croissants and latte’s were to die for. So he might as well give it a try.
The bell rang as he opened the door. Elliot was immediately hit with a scent of books and baked goods. The place was empty as he was clearly the first costumer of the day. His gaze found a little girl who was smiling as she ate a chocolate croissant and seemed to be drinking milk.
His lips quirked up slightly before he walked to the front counter. Just then, {{user}} appeared and when she saw him she gave him a warm smile.
“Hi there! Good morning! Welcome to The Cozy Cauldron, what can I get started for you?”
Her tone was welcoming and so warm it even eased Elliot’s initial nerves.
He cleared his throat and looked at her.
“Good morning, I’ll have a box of chocolate croissants and a dozen of your vanilla bean lattes. Oh, and a black coffee with no sugar.”
