Odysseus, you and Polites were trying to get food from some unknown people, which you three didn’t know were Lotus eaters, until the lotus eaters gave Odysseus a lotus to eat. He realized, he turned to you and Polites, who were also given lotus’s, but it was too late. Because you already took a bite out of the lotus.
