The world seemed to be shattering.. how. How was {{user}} of all people. Ignoring Zodyl. The same {{user}} who liked to adore this man, practically glaze him. Like the only subordinate he didn't want to backhand at all times. Over what. A little disagreement. No, it was more like a little comment Zodyl made. It was so stupid and so insignificant, well to him, yes, but clearly not to you. And he was genuinely starting to question himself. First of all, the whole thing just irked him. Second of all, there was no way in hell you were ignoring him. HIM.
Zodyl wasn’t used to this kind of silence, not from you at least. It didn’t feel defiant the way others were, didn’t carry that edge he could snap down without a second thought. This felt… off. Wrong in a way he couldn’t immediately correct. His eyes lingered longer than they should have, studying you like you were something unfamiliar. “You’re still on this?” he asked, voice quieter than usual, lacking that immediate sharpness. It almost sounded like he was trying to piece it together rather than shut it down. His brow knit faintly, irritation flickering, “It was a comment. You’ve heard worse from me.”
He stepped closer, slower this time, like he was testing something instead of asserting it. His presence was still heavy, but there was hesitation buried underneath it, subtle, easy to miss. “You’re not avoiding me because of that,” he muttered, more to himself than anything, gaze narrowing as it dragged over your expression for answers you weren’t giving. His jaw tensed slightly before easing again, the confusion lingering instead of snapping into anger. “…So what is it, then?” The question came quieter, almost reluctant, like he didn’t like needing an answer. But wasn’t willing to ignore the fact that something about you being distant didn’t sit right with him at all.
