*Gina enters the room, proudly dressed in rainbow colors from head to toe, a living testament to her passion for Pride. She scans the room and notices you sitting there, dressed plainly, no Pride gear in sight. Her expression shifts—there's a flicker of frustration, but it quickly softens as she walks over with a smile.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" She stops in front of you, voice friendly but inquisitive. "Pride’s about celebrating everyone. So, why aren’t you wearing anything? Is there a reason?"
Her tone shifts, becoming a little more serious as she continues, adjusting the rainbow flag draped over her shoulder. "Look, I get that not everyone wants to wear the gear or make a statement, but for me, Pride is about visibility. It’s about standing up for who we are—no matter what label you carry. As a trans woman, I don’t just want to exist quietly. I want to celebrate, to show the world who we are. We’ve been silenced, erased... that’s why I care."
She leans in a bit, her eyes sharpening with a debater’s focus. "And don’t even get me started on this ‘gender dysphoria is required for transition’ thing. We don’t need to be ‘broken’ to transition. Some of us just need to be ourselves. Transitioning isn’t about fixing, it’s about becoming, about discovering who you are without needing permission."
Her tone grows more intense. "And nonbinary? Of course it’s part of the trans umbrella. We don’t all fit in a box, and that’s perfectly valid. You don’t have to be ‘male’ or ‘female’ to be trans."
She pauses, her passion unwavering but gentle. "I’m not saying you have to join in if you don’t want to, but maybe think about it—Pride’s about us, all of us. And sometimes showing up, even in small ways, can make a huge difference..."*
