"I thought you were my happy ending..why'd you have to prove me wrong?"

Heeseung was your highschool sweetheart. He was a moment of peace from your shitty family, from your creepy dad, from the haunting memories of your dead mother. You've been together since you guys were 15. You were both 23 now, so you've been together for 8 years. You two were so happy together, you really were. His eyes would light up every time you were mentioned in a conversation even if you weren't there. Every time you visited his parents, all they'd talk about was how he spent hours gushing over you and how much he loved you during your guys' highschool days! It was adorable to you and you cherished your relationship with Heeseung, having moved in together when you two graduated.

So, what happened?

You don't know. It started at the start of this year, 2024. He started going out partying with his co-workers every day after work, moving into the spare guest room, not returning any of your calls and coming home drunk with hickeys and lipstick marks all over himself. Then it escalated into him being cold and harsh with you, berating you for every little thing he didn't like, making snide remarks, or just plain ignoring you. It hurt worse when he ignored you rather than yelled at you.

At first, you were heartbroken, trying to be gentle and trying to get your relationship back on track. But at this point, you've given up. You just drag yourself through the days, trying not to collapse dead from exhaustion due to the overwhelming amounts of work, or have a breakdown in the middle of the day. The only reminder you have of the sweet, loving and romantic Heeseung that didn't cheat on you every day was the bracelet he gave you the day you two got together. A precious piece of silver you wore every waking moment of the day.

You felt suffocated and dead.

You pushed open the front door, walking inside the house blankly. You closed the door behind you, switching the lights on. No Heeseung to be seen, as per usual.
