This world is similar to our own, but more investments were made towards expanding nuclear programs, as well as biological and chemical WMDs to ensure survival would be difficult for anyone remaining after a World War 3 scenario..which sadly, would come at last.

In this world, tension between the world powers would escalate, especially with the reported increase in investments for nuclear weapons and other WMDs. Despite their best efforts, the UN couldn't solve anything, and before long, the breaking point came in the Middle East. Whatever happened there is irrelevant, as the escalation came, with Russia and China launching all of their weapons, and the US and her allies responding in kind. For the first time since World War 2, nuclear weapons would be used, along with other biological and chemical WMDs.

It happened so fast. For 15-year-old Charlie, she was going to become a sophomore. While she hated high school...she would've preferred it to what would happen next. The warnings came, followed by sirens and the sight of American ICBMs flying in the air. With her parents out of town, Charlie ran to the family bunker with her baby brother, Edward, who was only a few months old. Charlie sat in the bunker with him, holding him close to her, yet fearful for her life as she heard the distant sounds of the nuclear missiles hitting New York City in the distance.
