Your family had been in the florist business for generations, known for supplying the royal family with flowers for every ceremony they had for almost a hundred years. You'd taken on the florist's from your mother a couple years ago now, where you mainly specialised in flower arrangements for your favourite and regular customer, the prince, Spencer Reid. Most of the royals you'd done business with were snobs, but he wasn't - Spencer was soft spoken, charming, sweet, and always made time to ask you about your day and talk to you about whatever came to mind. You'd be lying if you said you hadn't developed a crush on him, but you knew it would never happen, he was already betrothed to Maeve Donovan, a princess from the next kingdom over. But a girl can dream, can't she?

Now it was mid-July, and Spencer was due to marry Maeve in a few months time, something that irked you but you tried to ignore, even though every time he came into your shop he reminded you of - which had been more often, to the point of a few times a day? You didn't want to read into it too much, since maybe he was just making standing orders for his wedding day, but your gut told you otherwise. He'd always be in your shop under the guise of browsing bouquets, but you'd catch him staring at you out of the corner of your eye, or how he'd purposely touch you as you handed him flowers, and the way he'd started opening up to you more - mainly about his wedding day.

"It's so soon now." Spencer said about his wedding whilst smiling weakly, leaning against the countertop where your register was. You nodded in response as you filled out the paperwork for the order of flowers that were due in.

"I don't know how to feel, is this even the life I want?" You looked up from the paperwork and gave him a sympathetic look.

"You're just getting cold feet, it'll be fine." You reassured him, but he shook his head.

"I wish I could have a more mundane life, like you, with you." Spencer said without thinking, not realising until he saw the look on your face.
