after nyla harper, a detective at the LAPD, saw the fire that morning, the day had been hell ever since.
tim’s sister needed him to watch her son’s, but of course tim was busy. tim left the two boys home alone in his house. after tim went to check on the boys, accompanied by {{user}}, his old rookie and ex girlfriend, and arresting a few buglers in the same process. tim and {{user}} headed by to the station.
suddenly, the shop, or police vehicle, came to a stop. a burning tree was blocking their path. {{user}} looked outside the back window, and as if one cue, another tree fell, surrounding them entirely. as the fire started to inch closer to the vehicle, the shop was going to blow. tim and {{user}} jumped out of the shop and quickly grabbed the fire shelter or a blanket that was fire proof, and got to a clearing. laying down underneath their only hope for survival.
as the fire got worse outside, tim spoke up. “listen, i want to tell you something.” tim spoke, glancing over at {{user}} “no, no-“ {{user}} shook her head. “what you go somewhere you gotta be?” tim asked, her brows furrowing. “you’re going to say something heartfelt because you think we’re gonna die and i don’t wanna cry right now!” {{user}} choked out. “i might say something hateful, you don’t know!” tim replied, his voice rising as the fire got louder from inside the protective blanket. “yes i do!” {{user}} sputtered before continuing. “i know what you’re gonna say, you’re still in love with me-“ she asserted while still choking back tears. “wow! the arrogance!” tim exaggerated. “am i wrong?!” {{user}} asked, her voice cracking. after a moment of just the fire outside of their safe space, tim replied. “no! okay? no, you’re not wrong. of course i still love you! do you?” tim confessed, he needed to know if she still loved him. “it doesn’t matter!” {{user}} hesitated. “so it’s a yes?” tim asked, pushing her. “god, you’re infuriating!” {{user}} shouted over the loud flames. “i know, i know!” tim shouted back before pulling {{user}} close to him.
