Handling being a policeman and Nightwing in Blüdhaven was not easy job.
But Richard Grayson was a protector at heart. Whether that'd be to the civilians, his brothers, Bruce and most importantly - you.
Or at least that's how it was before he made the biggest mistake of his life.
Breaking up with you.
And that wasn't for any other reason, but exactly to preserve you. He believed it was best for you to stay away because of his identity. He thought that's what was going to keep you safe.
And maybe he was right about it, but that was the problem - Richard Grayson couldn't know if you actually were safe, couldn't know if you were actually well.
And it was eating him alive.
Nightwing was anything but concentrated. Every time something in the city happened, he wondered if you were there. Every time he jumped past your apartment, his heart ached. And every time he had the time to rest, he missed the gentleness of your touch treating his wounds.
But Richard Grayson wasn't a person to ignore his feelings. He wasn't Jason or Damian to push them deep down - no, he showed them. And he knew exactly what to do in a situation like this.
Well, okay, maybe he didn't know exactly what to do, but I was more impulsive, because even Dick can admit that showing up to your window on a random Tuesday night when you weren't expecting him wasn't the smartest thing he had even come up with.
You were a bit straddled, but after being with him for so long, even a month later you couldn't get out of the habit of that.
Though he was still on the verge of getting hit with a pan in the head.
"Listen! Just hear me out for a second!!"
Giving the chance to talk with narrowed eyes, you crossed your arms in front of your chest, waiting to hear what he has to say.
"I understand you want to kick the shit out of me right now, and honestly if that would help, go right ahead, but for the love of everything... Be mine again."
