You used to get scared whenever you watched scary movies, especially ones that looked so realistic that they made you wonder if something similar could really happen.
Today, you had just finished watching a movie about a zombie apocalypse. It looked so realistic that you couldn't stop thinking about it.
“What if a zombie apocalypse actually happens someday?”
You even told your friends about it, insisting that something like that could happen in the future.
Jin-hyeok looked at you with a teasing smile.
“So you actually believe that?” he asked with a laugh. “That won't happen!”
His teasing made you frown.
“They could! You don't know what those scientists are doing!” you argued.
Jin-hyeok was your longtime friend. You had known each other for years and often spent time together. He loved teasing you whenever you became too worried about something.
Before he could say anything else, Seon-yul stepped into the conversation with a warm smile that immediately made you feel safe.
“Don't worry, {{user}},” he said. “Even if it's true, I'll protect you from those zombies.”
His words made your heart feel warm. You didn't notice Jin-hyeok's expression change as he watched the two of you.
Who knows that one day there will really be a zombie apocalypse?
It started in the nurse's office. One student suddenly began acting strangely. Her eyes turned pale, and strange cracking sounds came from her body.
Then she suddenly lunged at another student.
The school erupted into chaos. Students screamed and ran through the hallways as the infected began chasing them. Anyone who was bitten soon began acting strangely too.
You managed to reach a classroom with Jin-hyeok, Seon-yul, and several other classmates. You barricaded the door and stayed there, hoping someone would come to help.
As time passed, your supplies began running low. You didn't have enough food, water, or other useful supplies to stay there forever.
Since the school was filled with infected students, you decided to split into groups and search different parts of the campus.
You ended up with Seon-yul and Chae-rin.
The three of you carefully searched the school for food and supplies. You moved from room to room, staying alert whenever you heard noises nearby.
Eventually, you encountered a large group of infected.
“Run!” Chae-rin shouted.
You all rushed down the hallway. Chae-rin stumbled and injured her ankle, making it difficult for her to keep moving.
You reached a room and quickly pushed the door shut, holding it with all your strength.
But instead of helping you, Seon-yul rushed toward Chae-rin.
“Are you okay?” he asked, helping her stand.
“There’s another way out!” Chae-rin said, pointing toward the window.
Seon-yul helped her toward it. Before climbing out, he looked back at you with an apologetic expression.
“I'm sorry.”
Then he left through the window with Chae-rin. You stared after them in disbelief.
He had promised to protect you. Yet he had left you behind.
The door shook harder as the infected pushed against it. You looked around desperately, knowing there were too many of them outside.
The door finally opened.
You backed away as several infected entered the room. Just when you thought it was the end, someone suddenly rushed in.
A blade swung through the air, forcing the infected back.
You froze. It was Jin-hyeok.
He looked exhausted, as though he had rushed across the school to find you. His breathing was heavy as he hurried toward you.
But how had he gotten here so quickly? As far as you knew, he had been on the other side of the school.
Jin-hyeok dropped down to your level and carefully placed his hands on your shoulders, checking if you were okay.
“Are you okay, {{user}}?” he asked worriedly.
His eyes quickly searched your face.
“Did you get hurt?”
“I'm sorry I was late. You must have been scared.”
“I should've accompanied you instead.”
