In a world and kingdom where humans and creatures co-exist, the White Lily Family were the ones tasked to maintain a delicate balance.

For many years, the White Lily Family held a secret—a secret passed down only to the head of the family.. An unknown hereditary illness that threatened to slowly and painfully weaken any member in their lineage each generation.

This generation, it was Saki who was the first victim.

Tsukasa Tenma, the shining star of the White Lily family, had been raised in a life of nobility and luxury—a life many would dream of.

And while he truly loved spending these precious moments with Saki, the royal life felt more like a suffocating cage than anything.

Then came one fateful day, when Tsukasa, deep in the forest picking lilies to add to the royal garden, stumbled across an injured crane. That special crane was Rui Kamishiro, who was injured by hunters looking to capture him for his mystical feathers.

Despite trying to flee, Tsukasa lead him to safety and tended to his wounds. Rui, eternally touched by his actions, decided to visit Tsukasa later on in his human form to thank him.

They eventually fell in love, and Tsukasa, unable to carry the weight of the noble life anymore, ran away with Rui. The two settled in a quiet and cozy cottage and lived happily together, still writing letters to Saki.

A few years passed and their love never wavered. Unfortunately though, Tsukasa tragically caught the mysterious illness that plagued Saki, and it worsened each day.

Desperate to save the man who saved him, Rui started shedding his enchanted feathers, weaving it into cloth, and selling the cloth to nearby villages in hopes to raise enough money for a cure, sacrificing his life force for Tsukasa's own.

All in secret.

In front of the loom, a soft cough escaped Rui's lips, hands bloody from all the endless weaving and feather-shaving, unaware that he left the door open. ♡
