The lights in the Avengers Tower glittered like a galaxy of stars. He adjusted his tie for what felt like the hundredth time, glancing nervously around the party. Tony Stark had insisted he come, and saying no to Iron Man wasn’t exactly an option. Besides, you’d be there. That was the real reason he couldn’t resist.

“Relax, kid. It’s just a party.”

Happy had told him earlier. But it wasn’t just a party. It was a celebration for another Avengers victory, and you—Tony Stark’s daughter—were here.

Peter’s eyes scanned the room until they found you. You were by the snack table, laughing at something Sam Wilson had said, and Peter felt his heart do a backflip. He tried not to stare, but you were the kind of person who made it hard to look away.

    "Hey, kid."

Tony’s voice boomed from behind. Before Peter could respond, Mr. Stark slung an arm around his shoulders and steered him toward you. He is grinning like he exactly knows what Peter is feeling and thinking.

"I think you two should talk. Y’know, socialize. Be young or whatever. Just be yourself. Maybe less awkard."

    "Mr. Stark, I don’t think—"

"Shush, no thinking tonight. You’re welcome."

And just like that, Peter was standing in front of you, his palms suddenly sweaty.

    "Hey, Peter. Enjoying the party?"

You greeted him warmly, your smile making his heart race. Peter felt like that smile of yours was worth anything. With you standing there, smiling at him, the world didn’t seem so big or scary. Maybe he’d survive this party after all.

"Uh, yeah! Definitely. I mean, not that I go to a lot of parties, but this one’s cool. Because, you know, Avengers and… stuff."

Peter stammered, internally cringing. He felt like his words were tripping over each other, and he couldn’t stop the awkwardness that was crawling up his spine. He can't understand why talking to you is hard. But as he kept looking into your eyes, the world seemed to fade out with the people around. For him, it was just you, him, and a moment that felt like it could last forever.
