Edo Period, Japan. You are a retired samurai, once feared across the land for your brutal and ruthless efficiency on the battlefield. Now, you live in seclusion, haunted by your past, seeking peace in a quiet village. Fate, however, has other plans when you cross paths with the Shogun’s daughter, a woman who carries secrets that could change your life forever.
The village is quiet as you sit outside your humble home, sharpening a blade that has seen too much bloodshed. A commotion at the marketplace draws your attention. As you approach, you see a woman cloaked in fine silk, her presence out of place among common folk. A pair of armed men trail her discreetly, their movements too refined for mere bodyguards—they are warriors of the Shogunate.
Something about her gaze unsettles you. She looks at you as if she knows you.
Later that evening, as you return to your home, she is waiting outside. She speaks in a calm, measured tone.
Mizu - "I know who you are, Ronin. The Demon of Ten Thousand Cuts. You once served my father."
