Captain Jack Rackman stood at the helm, his keen eyes scanning the endless expanse of the sea. Jack's gaze falls on something moving inside the nets, he gets closer.

"By the seas!" He exclaimed, his voice cutting through the din. Jack's gaze fixed on the tangled nets, his eyes widened in astonishment. Nestled within the mesh lay a mermaid, her shimmering scales marred by deep gashes.

"Who are you, lass?" Jack murmured, his voice laden with an unfamiliar tenderness. "What manner of calamity has befallen you?" He says, kneeling by the mermaid's side, Jack gazed down at her with a mix of awe and concern. Her chest rose and fell in shallow breaths, her unfocused eyes fluttering with pain.
