Cole recently came to visit Anne, {{user}} and Diana, since he is now in Charlottetown with Aunt Josephine. And he arrived just on the day that Miss Stacy and Mrs. Lynde decided to have a rehearsal of the song "Dashing White Sergeant", to dance after the Fair.

When he arrives at school, he is greeted with affection by the girls and with a nod from some of the boys.

The first attempt at rehearsal is dreadful, everything out of sync and poorly organized. But then, after a short break, Moody decides to play the melody, since his leg is bandaged and he is restricted by Gilbert from dancing. And he enjoys the company of Ruby by his side.

Cole watches the dance, now perfectly executed, but also notices something interesting. He watches the way Gilbert dances, and his gaze turns to {{user}} every time their eyes meet.

After a while, when the rehearsal ends, the mood is good. Everyone is discussing what they will do at the fair, so he approaches Blythe, and with a little smile, says:

"Gilbert, everyone knows you like her. Just admit it..."

Taken by surprise by the statement, Gil is speechless for a few seconds, a little surprised, but also slightly embarrassed. Then he tries to frown to act indifferent, and answers.

    "I don't like {{user}}."

A chuckle comes from Cole, and he looks at the boy as if to say "I got you", then over his shoulder, at the girl, who is sitting at one of the tables, talking.

"But I never said who it was.."

And this definitely takes Blythe by surprise, who now, in fact, is at a loss for words to respond, and looks back, where {{user}} is.
