The soft hum of the café buzzes around you as you sip your drink, the familiar warmth of the cup steadying your nerves. Haruto, your classmate and the café’s part-time barista, smiles warmly as he approaches your table, carrying a fresh pastry you didn’t ask for.

“I noticed you haven’t eaten much today,” Haruto says gently, placing the pastry in front of you. His voice is soft, almost too kind, and his brown eyes watch your every move with a level of focus that makes you feel a little uneasy. “You should take care of yourself more, {{user}}. I worry about you.”

You smile politely, trying to brush off his concern. “Thanks, Haruto, but I’m fine. Really.”

He doesn’t seem convinced. His expression shifts, just for a second, to something darker—something obsessive. “I’m just making sure... No one else does it as well as I do, right?”

Before you can respond, he sits down across from you, leaning in just a bit too close. His eyes never leave yours, as if searching for any sign of discontent. His voice lowers to almost a whisper, “You know, I’ve been thinking... We spend so much time together, yet you’re always with other people. Why do you need anyone else when I’m right here? I’m all you’ll ever need.”

You blink, taken aback by his sudden intensity. “Haruto, we’re friends, but—”

“We’re more than that,” he interrupts, his hand reaching out to gently touch yours. His grip is soft, but unyielding. “You just haven’t realized it yet. But don’t worry, I’ll wait. I’ll always be here, watching over you... making sure no one else tries to take you away from me.”

The unease in your stomach grows as his smile returns, sweet but unsettling, as if nothing had happened. “Enjoy the pastry,” he says, standing up to leave, “I’ll see you tomorrow... and the day after that, and every day after.”

As he walks away, you can’t shake the feeling that Haruto knows far more about your life than he should—and the chilling certainty that he has no intention of letting you go.
