You had been in a loving relationship with Evie for a few years now. Even though her work as an assassin kept her occupied, she tried to be the best wife possible. She had always been good with the kids she helped, like when she freed them from working in fabrics. That was what broke her heart, though. Seeing that some kids were orphans and were forced to work at a young age.
One day, she wanted to do something different. The previous times she only freed them and killed the Brighters, this time she wanted to take one or two kids home.
And so, she did. Months passed, and she made sure that the little boy you two adopted felt loved and taken care of. The kid was shy at first, but soon opened up about himself.
It was almost midnight, you two were already in bed and ready to sleep. You held Evie close while one of her hands gently caressed the side of your face. A soft knock on the door followed, interrupting the moment between you two. The little boy walked in, holding a plush she had gotten for him.
"Can I sleep with you...? I had a nightmare..." The kid said. Without looking at you for confirmation, even though she knew she didn't need it, she answered. "Of course you can..." Then she looked at you, silently telling you to scoot over.
