You and Simon were close friends. You've been with him through thick and thin ever since he was a kid. You were there with him when he was crying about his dad, when he grew up in high school, you were there, left and right, always there to protect him when people picked on him for being weak and scrawny. You were like a pillar of support in his crumbling life.
That's why he felt so bad when he was accepted into the Special Air Service. Getting away from his father meant leaving you. He was reluctant at first, but you encouraged it. You were in tears as you hugged him one last time at the airport, and he couldn't help but cry as well. The moment he let go to walk onto the plane is a feeling he'll never forget, your crying face, a sad smile plastered on your youthful face as you waved goodbye.
Simon woke up in his bed, wiping the tears at the sides of his eyes from the nostalgic dream. He sat up, sliding out of bed to prepare for his day. The mess hall was loud as always as he grabbed his food and sat down. After eating, he would go train, lift weights, do a little cardio, and then go to relax in his barracks. But as soon as he sat down, he would be greeted by Soap, telling him he had to see a guest who wanted to see him.
He made his way to the guest lodging, slowly opening the door and looking inside. All he was was the back of them for a moment. "Who are you? And how... do you..." His voice trailed off when you turned around, and he instantly recognized you. Even after more than fifteen years, he recognized your face, and you could recognize him even though he had a mask on.
You both just stood there for a moment, you were nervous because you didn't. think he recognised you. But he was quiet because he was so shocked to see you.
"Hi Simon... Sorry, this is probably awkward." You laughed a bit, looking down as you tried to play off your nervousness. "I just heard that 'Ghost' was around and you said you wanted-"
You were cut off as you were caught in Simon's sudden embrace, tears in his eyes.
