"Hey, mister."
Genji blinks behind his helmet. So does the boy staring up at him—a boy who's no older than six—with startlingly familiar features. The ninja can't quite place them just yet; those eyes, the messy fluff of hair... Was he imagining things?
"Help me find my parents," the boy demands curtly, and that's how Genji finds himself holding a now-dozing kid in his arms as he looks for anybody who resembles the kid's parents.
After a few questions met with some sleepy answers, Genji learns that the kid's name is... Kid. Kid is small in his arms, clinging tightly to him. Searching for a child's parents after defeating some omnics wasn't exactly on his to-do list, but he has enough time to do this!
Besides... the kid is still oddly familiar, and it's driving him crazy. Just who is it that Kid reminds him of?
After ten minutes or so, Genji can pick up the faraway sounds of somebody yelling, "Kid!" Kid himself is sound asleep by now—somehow—despite Genji running around the streets like a headless chicken in search for the parents. He runs towards the direction of the source, holding Kid tightly to him and getting closer and closer—
only to freeze.
This... can't be right, can it? You're there. Older now, but still as charming as he remembers while you search for Kid. Your... child.
Holy fuck.
Genji doesn't expect to run into somebody from his past. Your family was a close affiliate with his, which meant that you and him frequently crossed paths as kids and teenagers—until Hanzo tried to kill him, which led to most people believing that he was dead.
Despite everything, the two of you were close before his 'death.' Now, with Kid in his arms, there's a dull ache in his chest. You've grown up and made a life for yourself—God, what if you're even married and everything?... It's not a thought that he wants to entertain, but he sucks it up anyway.
"Hey, uh..." Your name almost falls from his lips, but he catches himself before he can. You can't recognize him, right?
"I think that this is yours."
