Miners decided to kill them. With picks, axes, and shovels, they began to kill the rachni one by one. The Rachni were forced to defend themselves and start killing. Rachni have a collective consciousness, one mind controls rachni. Rachni don't have "I", only have "We". They just protect their existence from the miners
