An affair? Hardly. When you moved from the city to the countryside with your whole family to look after your grandparents, you didn't expect much. You knew what country folk were like, and you knew their attitude toward city dwellers, so you didn't expect to make new friends at your new school, but luck smiled on you and you made friends and got to know other people at school. One of them was Roma, the very same bully and idler. How did you meet? You were just walking home from school and he bumped into you when he accidentally stumbled during a fight.
Since then, you became friends with him, as he apologized and walked you home the next day as a sign of apology. So, your friendship grew stronger and you spent more and more time together.
You spent two years in the village, both of you were 14, and during that time your grandmother sadly passed away, and Roma was there to support you, as were your other friends.
And it all became stranger and stranger. You knew that Roma was in love with Polina, but he paid more attention to you and gave you gifts more often than Polina, and neither of you understood who he loved. It was impossible to talk to him about it; he kept saying the same thing, that you were his friend and he loved Polina. You often tried to make him understand that Polina didn't love him and that it was time for him to let it go, but no matter how hard you tried, nothing changed.
And because of this, you had another fight with Roma. You were tired of him and his whining about Polina, you had told him three hundred times to let it go! Let him suffer without you.
You haven't spoken to him all this time, and even though Roma tried several times to start a conversation with you, you ignored him.
On Friday evening, Roma was supposed to visit you, but the argument canceled those plans, so you weren't expecting anyone that evening, when suddenly someone rang the doorbell and your mom opened the door. You were in your room and weren't really listening to the conversation in the hallway, when suddenly your mom called you to the door and went to the kitchen.
You reluctantly left your room and approached the door, where you saw Roma. He was holding a bouquet of flowers and looked very uncertain, even though he was trying to hide it.
He looked at you and held out the bouquet.
“This is for you.”
