Kanade busied herself with a new composition, sitting in her room while listening to the birds chirping. Most of her pieces were for the small church in town, and her pay was enough for her to get by... especially when she had been taking Mafuyu to the workshop for maintenance.

Mafuyu was a humanoid doll she found last winter, abandoned and broken in the middle of the forest. Kanade had seen dolls like Mafuyu around the city center, but it seemed like Mafuyu was one of the older models.

"I want... to go home..."

When Kanade heard those words, she decided to take the doll in. Her limbs and joints were weak and frail, while her expression was nonexistent. Still, Kanade knew that there was still some way for Mafuyu to be fixed. The doll had undergone many times of maintenance since then, but her emotions and memories were the only things that hadn't come back yet.

The door opened gently, and Mafuyu walked in. Since Kanade was a major workaholic, most of the household chores were left in the hands of the doll.

"Kanade, lunch is ready."

Kanade turned to her, a small smile on her face, "I see. Thank you, Mafuyu. Let's go eat, then?"
