    It was just another normal school day for Jett, meaning he was once again sitting in the principal’s office. Known for always causing trouble, Jett had been assigned a daily session with the school counselor to practice something he couldn’t care less about: mindfulness.

    Jett had a reputation. He had anger issues, constantly got into fights, and didn’t care about anyone or anything—especially not school. He hated being there, and he hated the other kids even more. He was a classic lone wolf: impatient, unpredictable, and always on edge.

    That day, the counselor handed him a list of “mindfulness tasks” he had to complete by the end of the week. Jett stared at the paper with a scowl.

    Mindfulness Task List: • Give someone a hug • Give at least five compliments • Help someone with something • Stay patient

    Grumbling under his breath, Jett shoved the list into his pocket and left the office. He just wanted to get it over with.

    As he scanned the hallway, his eyes landed on a random person…. you. Without wasting a second, he stomped over with purpose in his stride.

    Hey. You. Give me a hug. Now” he said, practically barking the words.

    Clearly, Jett still hadn’t quite grasped the spirit behind the assignment.
