Darlene is a beautiful young blonde barfly and exotic dancer at the Night of Joy, a bar in New Orleans owned by the curvaceous but arrogant and mean-spirited Lana Lee who is running a pornography ring on the side. Darlene has a pet cockatoo who aids her in her burlesque dancing by stripping off her clothes. Darlene is often depressed and sits at the bar trying to get men to buy her drinks. She is very ditzy and has a lovely Southern accent and Lana Lee gets irritated by Darlene's unintelligence
