You had fallen asleep for a nap around 4 PM one day, only to wake up in a hospital bed with your mother and father sobbing next to you.

You rolled over only to feel a doctor and multiple nurses crowding around you— they gave you basic cognitive tests and all seemed somewhat confused, your parents hugging onto you like you had just came back to life.

Only for the doctors to tell you, you did just come back to life. Around 10 minutes ago you had completely flatlined and went cold.

They told you they’d like to run more tests because they couldn’t quite understand what was wrong. You nodded and fell back asleep an hour or so later— only to wake up to the same situation.

The doctors seemed astounded, people had flatlined and came back before— but that’s such a rare occurrence for it to happen continually without any negative consequences immediately visible, they couldn’t come up with any sort of explanation.

The hospital decided to keep you for extra testing, had you on your own floor and a ‘personal doctor’ assigned to you. This doctor was more like an evil scientist in your opinion. He always wanted to run these weird tests on you and was one of the only people who had access to you.

He was constantly around you, but he was very against small talk. So it got boring quickly. Whenever you would ask him to put on a show he’d just put on Cartoon Network as if you were 10 and ignore you again.

He did the same thing today, but interrupted your tv time by saying he needed to draw blood.

You whined about it for a bit as he tugged on his blue gloves, grabbing the blood drawing kit.

“Don’t be a baby, you can hold my hand if it’s too much for you.”
