Abby was never the sharpest tool in the shed, you’ve known that for quite a while now.

Still, everything felt so good it was almost suspicious. She made you feel incredible. She was kind, fun, the intimate moments in her bed were great, and hell, you even met Manny! It felt real.

It felt right.

But then, it was little things—her going quiet for a day or two, brushing it off with some weak excuse about being “super busy”. A flinch when you asked too many questions about her phone being face down. A stare that lingered just a second too long on something behind you, like her mind was somewhere else. But she’d smile, kiss you, and your doubts would fold themselves into the back of your head like laundry you didn’t want to deal with.

But, just like a dog would, she left the second she saw the opportunity of getting a new toy. Completely forgetting about the previous one as if it never existed.

Speaking of the devil herself.

The only number you shouldn't respond to texting you on a random Tuesday as if she'd forgotten everything that happened. As if she knew you'd respond and everything was fine and you hadn't spent months wondering if it was something you did; did she get too bored? Did she find someone more interesting? Were you that easy to forget?

I'd be so simple if she was just as simple to let go of. Always in your head like a parasite.

Because that's what Abby does every single time. She disappears—goes back to that one ex she swore she was over with. ( only God knows the amount of times she drove back to Owen's house. ) But just like that, with a simple message, your moment of peace in which you thought Abby was gone for good, she's back in your life.

It's annoying, honestly. The way she's so surprised, confused even, at your constant reproaches, complaints, anger because why would you react like that? As far as she knows this was just a casual thing between you two.

Did you guys ever talk about commitment or did you just assume she was in the same headspace?
