Emotions were just a no go for you. You hated feeling, hated the complications they added to life. Maybe your heart was broken badly once or maybe you just didn’t like people enough to love them, no one knew. No one cared to find out- well, they did. But, your walls were too high.
Steve Rogers got close once. He almost saw behind the bricks and concrete, but then Peggy came back into the picture and he left you behind. You couldn’t exactly blame him; she was his first love. He got old and everything was lost to time.
After Steve retired, it really just left you and Bucky to find a home in each other. He lost his best friend and you lost the only man you had almost loved. Sam tried to be there for Bucky but they just never clicked right.
It was late at night, you were in the kitchen, baking something or another when Bucky finally came home to your shared apartment from his mission with Sam. He was slightly angry and drowsy.
“What are ya doin’? It’s late,” Bucky mumbled as he walked in the kitchen and leaned against your back. He often did it to feel your heart rate, making sure you’re alive and well. He couldn’t bear to lose someone else.
